The Viltox AF 50mm F1.4 PRO lens is now expected to be out on October 15th, according to the following promotional graphic.
I would expect this lens to be very similar to the Viltrox AF 85mm F1.4 PRO that was previously released. Its key features are;
- Full-Frame | f/1.4 to f/16
- Fast Portrait-Length Lens
- Dual Hyper VCM Motors
- Customizable Fn Button & Switches
- 9 HR, 3 ED, 1 UA Lens Elements
- 2.6' Minimum Focusing Distance
- HD Multilayer Nano Coating
- Weather-Sealed Metal Body
- Dust- and Splash-Resistant Construction
- USB Port for Firmware Updates
It's a very well-reviewed lens and an excellent bang-for-the-buck purchase for Sony FE-mount users, so I would imagine the 50mm will follow the same pattern and provide exceptional value.
Here's a summary of the Viltrox AF 85mm F1.4 PRO from opticallimits;
The Viltrox AF 85mm f/1.4 PRO FE delivers a very solid performance with a few caveats. It is already sharp at f/1.4 and great at medium aperture settings - this aspect is about as good as with the "big boys". The lens produces a very slight image distortion and noticeable vignetting at large aperture. It is a bit of a pity that Viltrox didn't implement autocorrection for these. Lateral CAs are low, whereas axial CAs can show up at f/1.4 and f/2. The quality of the bokeh is generally good.
