Godox has just announced the V1mid, a compact, round head speedlight that fits neatly into the V1 range of speedlights. While it doesn’t have the bells and whistles, the V1mid is clearly a no-frills speedlight that is ideal for the photographer who wants to enjoy the performance of the V1 range in a compact and lightweight package, without the price tag that comes with the top-end V1 and V1Pro models.
A Mid-Tier Flash
The V1mid is clearly a speedlight that is designed to offer the photographer something more than the entry-level flash, yet doesn’t need the larger and heavier build of the top-end V1 and V1Pro round head flashes.
Key Features
Unfortunately, the guide number and output power are not yet known, so it is hard to compare the V1mid to the regular V1 and V1Pro just yet. However, what we do know is that the V1mid has the following features:
- Recycle Time: 1.7 seconds, slightly longer than the 1.5 seconds of the regular V1
- Full Power Flashes per Charge: Up to 650, which is much higher than the regular V1 and V1Pro
A Smaller and Simpler Flash
The V1mid is also much lighter than the regular V1, weighing in at just 413g (14.6 oz), while the regular V1 is much heavier at 530g (18.7 oz). In order to achieve this smaller and lighter build, the V1mid no longer has physical buttons and dials, instead making do with a 2-inch touchscreen and a control dial.
